About Our choir

We are a friendly community choir based in West Hampstead.

No auditions are needed to join. We are open to all singing abilities.

All you need is the enthusiasm and willingness to have fun, to participate and to sing.

We have over forty active members - many have been with the choir for a number of years.

We welcome you to join us anytime for a free taster session.

When we sing

Rehearsals are held every Tuesday evening in term time.

We start at 7pm and finish at 8:30pm. We have a short social break during the rehearsal.

We are also asked to sing at other local concerts with other choirs.

Where we sing

We rehearse in Emmanuel Church, Lyncroft Gardens, London NW6 1JU. A fantastic place to perform with fabulous acoustics!

We regularly perform concerts at the end of each term. This also includes singing at the local Christmas Fair and in the summer at the Jester Festival.

Our Christmas Concerts and Spring Singfests have regularly filled the church raising money for charity including C4WS Homeless Project, Marie Curie Cancer Care and Christian Aid.

What we sing

We sing all types of music from musicals to classical.

We try to cater for all musical tastes with the aim of having fun and performing to the best of our abilities.

How much does it cost

We do have to charge membership fees as we have costs including paying our professional musicians, venue hire and other operating costs such as music purchases.

The fees do vary and are announced at the start of each term. So just come along for a free taster session and find out.

If you pay in advance it's cheaper.

The choir is run by a steering committee who volunteer their time.

The choir's history

The choir started in 2007 with a small group of people singing around the piano in someone's front room.

Outgrowing this, we moved to the Community Room at Emmanuel Church.

It didn't take long before we needed to move out into the main body of the church!

The choir changed its name from Fortune Green Choir to West Hampstead Community Choir at the end of 2024 - an end of an era!
